About the Course

Immerse yourself in our full-day workshop, meticulously divided into two comprehensive segments. The first part invites actors to bring a monologue of their choice, either self-prepared or from a recognised production. This session aims to equip actors with a profound understanding of the challenges and thought processes directors and cinematographers face when capturing a scene, focusing on elements that could potentially influence an actor's performance.

Actors will gain valuable insights into what makes the final cut and what doesn't, along with insider tips on the technical aspects of the shooting process. This knowledge will empower actors to manage their energy effectively, deliver performances that translate well on camera, and communicate efficiently with directors even in a hectic schedule.

Actors will also acquire practical tips that they can apply not only on film sets but also in their self-tapes and auditions. Following this, actors will have the chance to perform their monologue in a group setting, receiving constructive feedback from the facilitator to refine their performance.

The second part of the day is dedicated to recording these refined monologues using professional broadcast equipment, including cameras, lighting, and sound. These recorded monologues will be a valuable addition to their showreels.

Furthermore, actors will have the opportunity to submit their recorded monologue to our Monologue Showcase. This is a video gallery on our official website where we invite industry professionals to discover local talent, potentially creating a pipeline for work opportunities. The showcase will also feature a 'Monologue of the Month', where a selected monologue will be highlighted, accompanied by a brief interview with the actor. This workshop is a perfect opportunity to enhance your showreel and showcase your talent.
